I’ve been getting many questions concerning the upcoming release for this Avatar DVD and Blu-ray this past weeks.
Cameron has said that he anticipates the film to arrive on DVD and Blu-ray sometime June-August, but doesn’t anticipate a 3D variation for this film to become released promptly.
He mentioned this in December, prior to he knew what level of success Avatar would have, so possibly it’s more likely that we get the DVD and Blu-ray release somewhere available September-November since Avatar however performs strong on the Box Office.

MTV: Is there a sequence or two that one could describe for me that possibly will make it — regardless of whether it’s a director’s cut or an expanded edition — on DVD?
Cameron: …It’s a creature you no longer see within the movie,” Cameron explained. “[Sully] has to learn how to hunt through the air and do this incredibly brave issue, and then following the hunt they’ve this big festival and they dance and there’s a drunk scene with [Na'vi member] Tsu’tey, which can be Laz Alonso’s character, which is definitely quite damn funny.
